University System of Georgia, Facilities Officers Conference, October 27-29, 2014

SICS is in beautiful Savannah, GA this week to present the VirtualSafe campus infrastructure mapping program to the University System of Georgia’s Facilities Officers Conference.  We’ve partnered with our friends at Rochester and Associates Engineers to show off the robust capabilities that VirtualSafe offers to not only locate and document interior utilities, life safety, and fire safety equipment but also record and display exterior utilities data as well.  From source to end user, campus facilities managers may now put all the utilities information they need at their finger tips.

ABC Facilities Directors and Constructors Conference, September 24-25, 2014

SICS was proud to serve as the keynote speaker during the opening evening of the inaugural Alabama Facilities Director’s Conference in Prattville, AL.  This event marks the first time that facilities directors exclusively within the state of Alabama have met to discuss the challenges they face.  Virtual Alabama and the Virtual Alabama Critical Infrastructure System were discussed in depth.  These tools can help our facilities directors not only account for and manage their assets, but also provide responding agencies a clear picture of campus infrastructure before, during, and after a disaster.

AIDB Board Meeting, August 19, 2014

As SICS wraps up mapping activities for the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, it was our pleasure to present today to their board of trustees and update them on the Virtual Alabama School Safety System.  One of the crucial factors during an emergency situation on any of AIDB’s 6 home campuses in Talladega, AL or 7 regional centers statewide is communication with students and staff. Planning and coordination alongside community first responders is key to ensuring the safety of the special population of students AIDB serves.  The campus maps available in Virtual AL help facilitate these planning and coordination efforts.

NoName Facilities Conference, May 4-6, 2014

SICS spent Memorial Day with our friends from Rochester and Associates Engineers on Jekyll Island, GA for the 2014 NoName Facilities Conference.  The VirtualSafe campus mapping program was debuted during a presentation to facilities managers and directors from colleges and universities across the state.  VirtualSafe allows these professionals to GPS locate, photo document and share critical infrastructure and day-to-day utilities information with facilities staff and contractors.  The platform also allows community first responders to view this information during emergencies at the discretion of campus administrators.

GISA Conference, April 22-24, 2014

SICS is happy to be in Gulf Shores, AL this week for the inaugural GIS of Alabama (GISA) Conference.  Not only will we be presenting on Virtual AL and the Virtual AL School Safety System during plenary sessions with our partners at the Alabama GIS Program Office, but we’ll also be conducting in depth workshops on both the following day.  We want all of the attendees to know about the geospatial resources that are available to them at the state level!
